Item Description: The Christmas Card is the moving Hallmark Channel story of Cody Cullen, an American soldier fighting in the Middle East whose life is changed when he receives a Christmas card from an anonymous young woman. This simple act of kindness touches him--and when his friend dies in combat, Cody uses his holiday leave to travel to a small town in California to express his condolences to his friend's fiance. Little does he know that his journey will spur a series of events that will change his life forever. Through strange coincidence, Cody runs into the person behind the Christmas card he received. Cody feels an immediate connection with her, but is hesitant to act on it because she already has a serious boyfriend of several years - so he keeps his reasons for coming to the small town a secret. Soon he finds himself becoming almost adopted by her family, and he agrees to begin working with them in their family lumber mill. It becomes quickly apparent that she is having doubts about her relationship, and her commitment fearing, globetrotting boyfriend begins to see the competition he has in Cody and is suddenly spurred into making a proposal of marriage. Things get even more complicated when an unexpected kiss between the two of them occurs, and she is forced to reevaluate her engagement. One of the most powerful lessons of this film is that even the smallest acts can affect our lives in tremendous ways. The overarching theme of the original Christmas card that very first brought this group of people together bonds the entire film. This is a wonderful Christmas movie that contains great messages of strong family relationships, the value of hard work and the joy that can be gained through service.
